Incorrect identification of gender can result in unplanned, accidental and unwanted litters, which can be distressing for owners and potentially adds to the increasing numbers of pet rabbits in rehoming centres.

We offer therapeutic sessions for anyone who may benefit from interaction with animals. We come to you and will tailor the session to your requirement wherever possible.

MICRO-CHIPPING

More commonly nowadays, owners are choosing to microchip their small pets, including rabbits.

It is not uncommon for rabbits to be found wandering away from the safety of their home. It might only be as far as the next door neighbours garden and result in a prompt return, however, there is not usually a designated local Rabbit Warden and for those rabbits venturing further, it is likely they will be helped by a member of the public and find themselves somewhere like the local vet practice or a rehoming centre for their safety. At this point, scanning for a micro-chip is likely to occur. A micro-chipped pet can be returned to its owner quickly.

A convenient rabbit and guinea pig claw clipping service.

PET WORKSHOPS

A popular and very useful service, for any rabbit owners. It is particularly popular with new and potential rabbit owners as a family session, where everyone involved in caring for their pets can gain valuable experience, skills and knowledge. We find that practical demonstration and instruction is extremely effective and the benefits to both owners and pets, invaluable.

Included in the session is safe handling tuition and a demonstration of a health check which can be carried out at regular intervals by owners. This will aid in identifying common physical and behavioural signs and symptoms of potential and unfortunately, often common health problems. As a naturally vulnerable prey species, rabbits instinctively 'hide' illness and pain. This can mean that, unless a problem is either acutely obvious, or sadly, in an advanced stage, it can sometimes be very difficult for an owner to identify. This health check is by no means intended to be an alternative to veterinary care, rather it is a valuable method of helping owners to detect the need for their pet to see a veterinary surgeon at the earliest opportunity.

Also covered, is vital information relating to preventative health care, housing and diet.

We can offer advice on all aspects of rabbit welfare, so if owners would like a particular aspect to be included, this is usually possible.

The workshop is provided by an experienced educational instructor in this field who is qualified in Animal Management and Welfare, with over 10 years of experience working with domestic rabbits and other small pets.

Rabitat Mobile will come to you for the workshop. We can handle your own pets in the session, or, If you don't yet have pets but would like to use the session to help you decide on whether rabbits are a suitable pet for you and your family, we can bring 'Herbie' with us. Herbie can help to demonstrate very well, many aspects of rabbit welfare and management.

Although the workshops are most popular with rabbits, we can offer workshops for other small pets, including guinea pigs, gerbils, hamsters, rats etc.

PRICE: £20 per workshop, which lasts approximately one hour.

We are fully insured for this service.

A Health & Safety Risk Assessment is in place for the sessions. We will bring a copy with us, however if you would like to save time on the day, we recommend you request this information prior to our visit.
